Changes by date

20 October 2026 · Curation follow-ups · 3 changes on 3 models
  1. C&R · II · 219Colt Single Action Army, 1899–1946
    • Note on the ATF wording added. Two published sources, a Colt serialization table and a 2018 Handloader article citing Colt, end first-generation serial numbering at 357859, ten numbers below ATF's 357869. A note now points out the difference; the ATF wording is unchanged.
  2. C&R · II · 456Simonov SKS, Soviet manufacture
    • Years: 1945–1958 → 1946–1956. Small Arms Review and Modern Firearms both date the end of Soviet production to 1956. One American Rifleman article gives 1958, but it also dates Tula production from 1945, four years before the carbine was adopted. The start year now follows Modern Firearms: more than a thousand carbines were ordered from the Tula factory for field trials in 1946 and 1947, and Tula made carbines before the 1949 adoption. Prototypes tested late in the Second World War are not counted.
  3. C&R · III · 108Marlin Model 1894 carbine, 15-inch barrel
    • Years: 1894–1935 → 1899–1935. A published Marlin serialization table dates serial 181852, the lowest listed serial without a letter prefix, to 1899, so the range now starts there instead of at the model's 1894 introduction. The table stops at serial 355300 (1906) and does not date the higher listed serials, which run to 427022, so the end year 1935 remains our estimate.
